Overdraft Coverage Overdraft Program

An insufficient balance could happen in several ways, such as

  1. the payment of checks, electronic funds transfers, or other withdrawal requests;
  2. payments authorized by you;
  3. the return of unpaid items deposited by you;
  4. the imposition of bank service charges; or
  5. the deposit of items which, according to the bank's Funds Availability Policy, are treated as not yet available or finally paid.

We are not obligated to pay any item presented for payment to your account if your account does not contain sufficient funds. However, if you maintain your account in good standing and there are no outstanding legal orders or fraudulent activity, we may approve your reasonable overdrafts as a non-contractual courtesy. Normally, we will not approve an overdraft for you in excess of the pre-determined amount assigned to your account, including overdraft fees. An overdraft fee of $32 will be assessed for each overdraft item. (Current overdraft fees can be found in the Fee Schedule).

In addition, a daily overdraft fee of $5 will be posted to your account beginning on the 4th calendar day your account remains overdrawn. The daily overdraft fee will continue to be charged until your account is brought to a positive balance, or 15 days whichever is less. We may refuse to pay an overdraft for you at any time, even though we may have previously paid overdrafts for you. You will be notified by mail of any overdraft items paid or returned that you may have; however, we have no obligation to notify you before we pay or return any item.

The amount of any overdrafts plus overdraft fees you owe us shall be repaid to us within 30 days or the collection process will begin. If there is an overdraft paid by us on an account with more than (one) owner on the signature card, each owner and agent, if applicable, drawing/presenting the item creating the overdraft, shall be jointly and separately liable for such overdrafts plus our overdraft fee. You will not see the overdraft limit amount reflected in the "available balance" of your checking account. The overdraft service will be activated to cover checks, Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments, recurring transactions and bill pay transactions that overdraw your checking account, including fees. If you want Central Valley Bank to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and one-time debit card transactions you must opt-in for the additional coverage. Customers with multiple accounts need to make their choice for each personal checking account. If you have additional questions about Overdraft Coverage, you may contact us anytime for assistance, our employees are here to answer your questions and help you make an educated and informed decision that best fits your specific needs and the way in which you use your account.
